Frequently
Asked Questions:

What can I expect in my first therapy session?

Your first session is a welcoming space for us to get to know one another. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and any goals you may have. There is no pressure to share everything right away. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive for you.

How long are therapy sessions and how often do we meet?

Sessions are typically 53 minutes. How often we meet depends on your needs and goals and may be weekly, biweekly, or adjusted over time as things shift.

What is art therapy and do I have to be artistic?

Art therapy uses creative activities such as drawing, painting, or collage to support self-expression, reflection, and insight. No artistic skill is needed. The focus is on the process, not the finished product, and art-making is always optional.

Some benefits of art therapy may include:

  • Expressing emotions that feel difficult to put into words
  • Reducing stress and anxiety
  • Increasing self-awareness and insight
  • Supporting emotional regulation and coping skills
  • Building self-esteem and confidence
  • Processing life experiences and transitions
  • Encouraging mindfulness and present-moment awareness

Do you see children?

Yes! I work with children ages 5–10. I require a consultation call for all new minor clients. When working with children, I provide a safe and supportive space to explore emotions, build self-esteem, and develop coping tools. I do not provide behavioral therapy or services focused specifically on behavior change. The consultation call helps ensure that my approach and skill set are a good fit for your child’s needs.

Do you provide Supervision?

Yes I provide supervision services at a rate of $120 per hour. Depending on your license and needs- frequency and services provided may vary. I would be happy to set up a consultation call to discuss what you are looking for and how I can support you!

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Therapy is confidential and protected by law. There are a few safety-related exceptions, which will be reviewed and discussed during your first session so you feel informed and comfortable.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I currently accept insurance for individual therapy and am in-network with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medical Mutual. I am also in the process of being credentialed United Healthcare, Oxford, and Oscar.

What if you are not in-network with my insurance?

If I am not in-network with your insurance, I am happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to learn more about your specific benefits.

What are your fees and cancellation policy?

My session rates are:

  • $180 for an individual initial intake session
  • $150 for individual sessions following the intake
  • $200 per session for couples counseling

I require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged a $150 fee.

What is the No Surprises Act?

In accordance with the No Surprises Act, healthcare providers are required to offer a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) to clients who are uninsured or choosing not to use insurance. This estimate is provided before services begin and outlines the expected cost of care, helping you understand and plan for therapy expenses without unexpected financial surprises.

If you receive a bill that is significantly higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charges with your insurance company or directly with the provider.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. Telehealth sessions are available and can be a flexible option for many clients. Please check with your insurance provider to see if telehealth services are covered under your specific plan.

Do you offer a consultation call?

Yes! I offer a free 15-minute consultation call. This is a great opportunity to briefly discuss what you are looking for and see if we feel like a good fit.

When are you available?

I offer in-person and virtual sessions Monday through Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. I return phone calls and emails during business days when I am between sessions and before or after my workday. I do my best to respond in a timely manner, though on busier days it may take a bit longer.

Where is your office and what should I know before my first in-person session?

My office is located in the Detroit–Warren Building at 14805 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood. The entrance has a red awning and is located directly to the left of Crazy Mullets Salon. The office is on the fifth floor, Suite 520, and is shared with other therapists. You will take the elevator to the fifth floor, and the office is the last door on the right at the end of the hallway.

Free parking is available in the shopping plaza behind the building, shared with Marc’s. Metered street parking is also available along Detroit Avenue.
